  MY CULTURAL HERITAGE        In our family, what we culturally practice is based from the beliefs and practices of our older generations. We used to follow their cultural beliefs and traditions from  generations to generations. Our family believes in traditions such as “pahimag-o”, a simple celebration of thanks to our ancestors and to God for the abundance we have received every cropping season. Also, as a family who lives in the urban community, we still believe in “pahilot” wherein if an individual or a family member got injured, he/she may see someone who knows to “hilot”or have it “massaged.” We do believe in this healing because my lola (mama’s mother) was a known “manog hilot” during her time. For me, the most important thing that our older generations had passed on to us is our faith and strong belief in God the Almighty and to always offer mass intentions to our dear departed loved ones.        Today, our fami...
